Portland,
Dorset DT5 2DP

Directions:
From Weymouth take the A354 through Fortuneswell and
continue to towards Portland Bill. The Eight Kings Inn lies on the far
south of Portland Isle.
Right in the heart of Southwell, Dorset's most southerly
village, the Eight Kings Inn is a lively village pub that plays an
important part in the life of the local community. Originally two old
cottages, the building has seen several alterations over the 200 years of
its existence and, built of Portland stone, it is sure to be standing for
another 200 years. Apart from being the only Eight Kings Inn in the
country, the pub is also unique, and lucky, in having Kathryn and Jim as
landlady and landlord. An interesting and very active couple, with many
years experience in the trade, they have certainly stamped their
personalities on the pub since they arrived here in 1996.
Well known locally for Kathryn's excellent home-cooked
meals, and in particular the great value Sunday lunches, this an ideal
place for a both a relaxing drink in the spacious bar or a tasty meal in
the cosy and atmospheric restaurant area. The couple's keen interest in
music - Jim plays the guitar - is reflected in the weekly live music
evenings to which all are invited to come and join in.
